Fantilli was the third overall selection in the 2023 NHL entry draft. This was following a big year for the University of Michigan Wolverines. He recorded 30 goals and 35 assists for 65 points in 36 games. Furthermore, he helped provide a one-two punch at the 2023 World Junior Championships for Team Canada. That number one, being fellow 2023 draft pick, the first overall selection, Connor Bedard currently of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Fantilli is having a very impressive season thus far for Columbus. He has some size at 6’2” and plays centre. Through 49 games in 2023-24, he has 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 49 games. What Does This Mean for the Blue Jackets
Columbus is a team focused on growth and development. Along with Fantilli, they have a few great, young players making their mark. Players like Kirill Marchenko or Yegor Chinakhov, among others, show the club has the capability of being very strong in the coming years.
