After six seasons with Columbus, the defenseman is headed west.
Friday morning, the San Jose Sharks announced that the club has signed defenseman Scott Harrington to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Having spent the past six seasons as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets organization, Harrington has logged 210 career NHL games. Last season, he skated in seven games for the Blue Jackets, recording an assist and six penalty minutes. He also appeared in 50 games for the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League.
Through his NHL tenure, which includes 10 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and 15 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the 29-year-old has accounted for 7 goals, 31 assists and 77 penalty minutes. In 193 career AHL games, the defenseman has totaled 11 goals, 35 assists, 104 penalty minutes and a plus-8 rating.
The 6-foot-2, 204-pound native of Kingston, Ontario was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round (54th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
