After all the rumblings and stumbling about where he could end up, Timo Meier has finally been traded. The San Jose Sharks traded the elite power forward to the New Jersey Devils, as first reported by TSN’s Pierre LeBrun. Mike Grier capitalized on his return, and the Swiss winger has a new home. Meier currently has one year left on his deal but has a $10 million dollar qualifying offer this offseason.

Timo Meier Gets Traded
It is no secret that the San Jose Sharks were going to sell off pieces. With a team full of talent and trade chips, the first chip has fallen down. Timo Meier has been traded, and the biggest fish is off the market. Meier has firmly established himself as an elite power forward in this league and is a pure goal scorer. The big rugged winger impacts the game in all areas of the ice and is a big boost for this team as they look to make a deep playoff run.
The Impact He Brings To His New Team
Timo Meier is a big boost to the lineup. Over the course of his young hockey career, he has established himself as an effective power forward for today’s game. He brings a special blend of scoring and physicality, which makes it perfect for playoff hockey. Despite the Sharks not being a very good hockey team, Meier has performed well. Meier leads the Sharks in hits and is currently on pace to set a career-high in goals. He had a career year last season, and has successfully built off of it coming into this year. Meier is young and has plenty of good hockey in the tank and will look to help the team push further in the playoffs. After spending time in San Jose, he now gets to go to a contender and play meaningful hockey.
