It’s time for another round of NHL rumours for the weekend. Some thought the New York Rangers would be in the mix for a Stanley Cup. However, they were ousted by the Metropolitan Division rival New Jersey Devils. General manager Chris Drury has some tough decisions to make and some key young players to sign. There are a number of restricted free agents on the club that need a new deal. Today’s NHL rumorus looks at a new K’Andre Miller contract.
All NHL rumours come from the original source and are subject to change.

K’Andre Miller Contract Update
Rumour: The Athletic’s Arthur Staple took a look at a number of RFAs that need to be re-signed this off-season. Alexis Lafreniere and Miller are two names that jump off the page. Staple said that both Lafreniere and Miller will likely get one or two-year bridge deals. Miller has become a solid hand on the blueline for the Rangers. However, Lafreniere has yet to really take off as promised in being a former number one overall draft pick in 2020.

Miller netted a career-high nine goals and 43 points in 79 games this season with the Blueshirts. He’s grown into a top-four blueliner for the Rangers. The St. Paul, Minn. native should get a nice pay raise. However, that day may have to come down the way. New York has some things to figure out, but needs to keep Miller.
What a K’Andre Miller Contract May Look Like
A Miller contract is likely to try to give the Rangers some cap flexibility. The window is still somewhat open on the Rangers winning a Stanley Cup. However, Drury needs to tidy some things up with the club.
The young defenceman is already making over $3.8 million and will likely get some sort of a raise. However, the Blueshirts aren’t in a position to give a long-term deal at this time. There’s hope the salary cap will finally take a large bump to give the players a well-deserved bump in salary. A deal around $4 million or over for one to two years could be what the Blueshirts and Miller agree to.
