Head-to-Head: Oilers 1-1 Wild
Time: 8:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
TV: TNT; TruTV; Max; Sportsnet
Our one game of NHL predictions has the Oilers taking on the Wild. The two teams that have already met twice with plenty of goals between them. Minnesota won the first meeting, 5-3. However, Edmonton got a measure of revenge with a 7-1 blowout on December 12.
Both teams are in second place in their respective Western Conference divisions. These two teams also have defences that are in the top 10.
Let’s take a look at the storylines heading into this game on this round of NHL predictions.
The Oilers Story
Edmonton comes into this game with a 7-3-0 mark in the last 10 games. The Oilers have also collected victories in the last two games. Stuart Skinner is likely to get the start in goal for Edmonton. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter.
Defenceman Evan Bouchard has totalled seven goals and 25 assists for the Oilers. Leon Draisaitl has been great all season-long but has seven goals and six assists over the past 10 games.
The Wild Story
Minnesota has a 7-3-0 record in the last 10 games entering this matchup. However, the Wild are coming off a loss to the Vegas Golden Knights last time out. Filip Gustavsson is the projected starter for the Wild in this one.
Austrian sensation Marco Rossi has posted 16 goals and 22 assists for the Wild. Mats Zuccarello has been strong as of late with four goals and eight assists over the past 10 games for Minnesota.
Prediction
Both teams have dynamic offensive players like Connor McDavid and Kirill Kaprizov whom we haven’t even mentioned yet. However, both clubs do possess some solid defences that can keep pucks out of the net.
Despite the great defences, these two teams can make the best blueliners and goalies look silly. We could see some great offensive numbers in this game. However, the Oilers look just a bit better and should pick up the victory.
Prediction: Oilers win 4-3.
Prop Bets of the Night
We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. Let’s start with the over/under at 5.5. The over does seem like the smart play at -122 via FanDuel.
On the individual front, let’s start with the Oilers. Go with Zach Hyman to score a goal at +195. On the Wild end of things, take Matt Boldy to light the lamp at +200. Both of these odds are courtesy of FanDuel.
