There is a new Nashville Predators head coach. A new bench boss is in need after showing John Hynes the door. Hynes had one year left on his contract. In comes former Florida Panthers head coach Andrew Brunette. Brunette will be behind the Predators bench for the next (enter years).
Brunette Heading To The Music City
#preds have formally fired coach John Hynes, who had one year remaining on his contract.
Andrew Brunette incoming as next head coach, as first reported by @KevinWeekes.
Clunky process, to say the least, for Barry Trotz’s first move as Nashville GM.

What an overhaul for the Nashville Predators. First a new manager and now a new Nashville Predators head coach. Long-time manager David Poile steps down, and in comes former head coach Barry Trotz. With plenty of draft picks at his disposal and being tasked with rebuilding this team, he has selected his own bench boss. Andrew Brunette comes in with more experience. He previously spent the past year as an assistant for the New Jersey Devils. However, Nashville missed the playoffs by just a few points, and Brunette can help lead the charge.
Brunette Is The Right Fit
Nashville has a core group already in place. The team is led by Jusse Saros, Roman Josi, and Filip Forsberg. Not to mention some of the younger players surrounding them. All three are locked up for the foreseeable future. Given their second-half-of-the-season surge, a new voice could help take them where they need to get to.
Brunette is not a bad coach by any means. His sample size as a head coach is small, but he made is mark. Brunette would finish the season with a 51-18-6 record in 75 games behind the bench for the Panthers. In addition, the club went on to win the Presidents Trophy and the team made the second round of the playoffs. Brunette spent the past year in New Jersey where the franchise broke all kinds of records. In fact, it was a franchise historic season. With extra experience, he gets to lead the charge for the Predators who are not as behind as some may think.
