The Nashville Predators have begun their fire sale. It involves a Nino Niederreiter trade. The team has agreed to send the veteran winger to the Winnipeg Jets. In return, the team received a 2024 second-round pick. This is a great grab for the Jets as they continue their playoff push.

With things going south in the Music City, selling off pieces makes sense. It is unfortunate with the talent on the roster, but a wise move to punt on the season. Nashville is well out of the playoff race and would be a miracle to make it. As for Winnipeg, this is huge. Sure this is not Timo Meier, but Nino Niederreiter has proven himself to be a great middle-six forward. His impact will be felt and he will fit Rich Bowness system as well.
The Impact Of This Trade
Winnipeg Jets
The Nino Niederreiter trade is an instant impact to an already good team in Winnipeg. Depth is important, and he now joins a group that consists of Kyle Connor, Blake Wheeler, Mark Schiefele, Josh Morrissey, and Connor Hellebuyck.
He fits the system well. Niederreiteris a big physical winger that forechecks hard and plays a solid two-way game. In addition, he has the ability to score. Last season he scored 24 goals and has hit the 20-goal mark five times in his career. This year he has 18 goals, 10 assists, and 28 points. This is a huge boost as they chase down Dallas in the standings.
Nashville Predators
Things have not gone as well, and this could be the start of a fire sale in Nashville. Plenty of players have term on their deals, but that does not mean they won’t be moved. This team has talent on the roster with Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, and Jusse Saros playing at high levels. Get the popcorn as the music may be playing loudly in Nashville.
