With free agency a month away, it’s time to check in on the Raiders’ EDGE position to give it a condition of either Strong, Stable, Unstable, Serious, or Critical.
Starters: Maxx Crosby, Tyree Wilson
Backups: Charles Snowden, Andre Carter II, Ovie Oghoufo, David Agoha
Free agents: Malcolm Koonce, K’Lavon Chaisson, Jenarius Robinson
Maxx Crosby was Maxx Crosby…when he was on the field. For the first time in his career an injury took him out of a game. Then he aggravated his high ankle sprain and missed the last few games of the season and was replaced by Tyree Wilson. When he was in, there was as revolving door on the other side. Malcolm Koonce was supposed to be the starter, but was injured just before the start of the season, so the position was shared mostly by Charles Snowden and K’Lavon Chaisson.
Condition: Unstable
Wilson ain’t it. The former fourth overall pick hasn’t shown much in his two seasons in the league, aside from a couple decent games. Koonce had won the job and now he’s headed for free agency as is Chaisson. The Raiders either need to get Koonce back or find a suitable replacement.
