Pete Carroll keeps special teams coach in Las Vegas
New Las Vegas Raiders’ coach Pete Carroll kicked off the hiring process for his 2025 coaching staff by staying in-house.
Carroll has decided to retain special teams coach Tom McMahon, according to NFL Media.
Monday, when he was introduced as the Raiders coach, Carroll said he envisioned that his coaching staff would include some holdovers from the staff of former head coach Antonio Pierce.
This will be the third head coach that McMahon, 55, will assist in Las Vegas. He was hired by Josh McDaniels in 2022 and Pierce retained him in 2024. McMahon has been an NFL special teams coach since 2009.
The Raiders’ special teams units had some issues in 2024 with two blocked punts (which was tied for the most in the league) and some lackluster overall play in the return and coverage units, but it features standout punter A.J. Cole and kicker Daniel Carlson.
How do feel about Carroll keeping McMahon?
