“It was a quarterback decision,” Brown told reporters on Monday
After a resurgent 72 catch, 1060 yard season from John Brown in 2019, he was banged up and took a seat behind star WR Stefon Diggs in Buffalo in 2020. For this reason, Brown was available on the open market at a discount and the Raiders made the speedy wide receiver an offer.

But according to him, the decision to join the Raiders was based on the presence of Derek Carr at quarterback.
“Who would I like to play for? And when I was with Buffalo, watching Derek Carr play last year and seeing the style of offense, I fell in love with it right then and there and I wanted to be a part of it.”
Brown, of course, is coming from a high pass volume offense in Buffalo to a more conservative passing offense under head coach Jon Gruden. That being, said Brown went on to list Carr’s strengths as “decision making” and stated that “he gives his guys chances.”
This echoes earlier comments from Carr about how he will throw the ball to the guys who work the hardest in practice. So far during training camp, beat reporters have observed John Brown amongst those who have stayed after practice with Carr to work on their timing.
Whether or not Brown produces big in 2021, his decision to choose Las Vegas for Derek Carr will continue to be a talking point as the season moves along.
