General manager John Spytek and running backs coach Deland McCullough were at Boise State’s pro day on Wednesday.
The Las Vegas Raiders using the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on former Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has been picking up steam lately. Expect those rumors to continue to heat up between now and next month’s draft as general manager John Spytek and running backs coach Deland McCullough were at Boise State’s pro day on Wednesday.
During his media session, Jeanty was asked about playing for the Raiders (h/t Jay Trust of KTVB).
I asked former #BoiseState RB Ashton Jeanty about potential landing spots for the 2025 NFL Draft.
“Most importantly, you want to go to the right fit, the right organization.”
That being said, the #Raiders are clearly interested. General manager John Spytek and running backs… pic.twitter.com/gzZm6Xbzur

“Great organization,” the running back replied. “They’ve got a few pieces and I know they could use a running back. They’ve got that nice pick, number six. So, we’ll see what happens but it’s been great meeting with them, meeting with their running backs coach. So, it’s cool that he came out all this way to meet with me.”
Jeanty also mentioned going to the right organization and “fit” in the draft, and his answer above makes it seem like he thinks Las Vegas meets his criterion. Meanwhile, the Silver and Black could use help at running back with Raheem Mostert, Sincere McCormick and Zamir White headlining the position group.
All 32 NFL teams were represented at Boise State’s pro day while Spytek and Jeanty reportedly had lunch together, according to local radio host John Mallory of KTIK. So, don’t expect the rumors about the former Bronco heading to Las Vegas to cool down anytime soon.

- Spytek peels back curtain on Geno Smith trade: “Ultimately we arrived at a spot where we thought adding Geno made a lot of sense for us,” the general manager said on the team’s “Upon Further Review” with Eddie Paskal. “It upgraded the position in our opinion. The compensation from a draft capital standpoint wasn’t so costly. …We used a late third-round pick to hopefully have our starting quarterback here for years to come. And it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up.”
- Josh Jacobs praises Jakobi Meyers: “The most underrated (player) I played with … (the one) that shocked me the most, especially on a day-to-day basis, was Jakobi Meyers,” said Jacobs on the ZIAS!
