Raiders’ 1st-round pick writes book
There have been many controversial and unsuccessful draft picks in the Raiders’ history.
Longtime fans of the franchise surely remember quarterback Todd Marinovich.
He will go down as one of the late great Al Davis’ most curious top picks. The Raiders selected Marinovich out of USC in the first round of the 1991 draft.
Marinovich, who was drafted nine picks ahead of future Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre, played just eight NFL games and was out of the league in his second season.
The so-called “Robo Quarterback” became famous for the way his father groomed him. He struggled in his post-playing life. Now, Marinovich, 55, has written a tell-all memoir titled ‘Marinovich.”
The honest record-setting book will be available through Matt holt Books in August. Marinovich is a fascinating figure and it should be an interesting read.
