Raiders’ 2nd-year star tight end a worthy longshot bet
Brock Bowers was a finalist for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2024 but, of course, the prize went to Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Perhaps Bowers is ready to make a push for the 2025 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.
The Raiders’ first-round pick had an incredible record-breaking season. The Georgia product, who was the No. 13 overall draft pick, finished the season with 112 catches for 1,194 yards. He set the NFL tight end rookie record for catches (86), receiving yards (1,076), overall receptions for a rookie (105) and the Raiders’ single-season reception record (107).
There’s no reason to think Bowers won’t be as productive this year, especially playing with a better quarterback in Geno Smith, who the Raiders traded for last month.
According to our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook, Bowers is a 50-1 longshot to win the OPOY award. Bowers is tied with nine other players for the 19th best (lowest) odds.
Seeing what Bowers did as a rookie, these odds are tempting if sports betting is your thing,
