The Senior Bowl is the place for prospects to raise their stocks and these players are seizing the opportunity
The Las Vegas Raiders have a new regime in place with the hiring of John Spytek and Pete Carroll. It is time to build the roster using the image they designed for the team. One of the first spots to make that process is mobile. The Raiders have their scouts in town and hope to find players to help the football team.
Of course, the primary position that fans are interested in is quarterback. Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe headline the group but haven’t stood out the last two days. Other players and positions have made a name for themselves after flying under the radar. The players fans will hear their names more during the draft process.
Ollie Gordon, RB Oklahoma St.
A player reintroducing himself to the country is Ollie Gordon from Oklahoma State. The running back from Oklahoma State was considered the best in the class. Gordon has made the most of the opportunity, showing off his power and burst during practice.
Where Gordon can be unique is the passing game. He runs routes like a wide receiver and was making easy work of linebackers during one-on-one sessions. Gordon can find himself on higher-up team boards with his future as a third-down back.
Riley Leonard, QB Notre Dame.
Riley Leonard, a quarterback out of Notre Dame, has been making the most of his reps. Leonard was an afterthought going into the week but has stood out during the first two practices. He has been accurate with the football and displayed velocity on these throws while staying poised in the pocket.
As a player who many thought might go undrafted, Leonard is making the case. He could go early on day three or maybe sneak into day two. With one more practice, it will be interesting to see how he finishes.
Devin Neal, RB Kansas
Devin Neal is a player who has separated himself from the running backs here. The Kansas running back is explosive, and he is showing it on the practice field in Mobile. He has been exceptional in both the running and passing game, displaying his hands and ability to get open out of the backfield.
With Neal standing out in a stacked running back group, he should be expected to rise up draft boards. If he can impress scouts enough after his performance at the senior bowl, he can sneak into day two of the draft.
