Could John Spytek bring familiar face with him?
We know a few things.
We know the Las Vegas Raiders badly need to upgrade at the quarterback position, and they will, without a doubt, add a quarterback this offseason. And they could easily bring in multiple players at the position.
We also know that it won’t be very easy for the Raiders to get a quality solution at the starting quarterback position through the draft or in free agency or in a trade. The draft class is not deep at the top and the Raiders may not get a chance to find a suitable answer with the No. 6 overall pick. Also, the free agent and trade market isn’t expected to be overfilled with enticing options.
So, the Raiders may have tp get creative and new Las Vegas general manager John Spytek could opt to go with some familiarity while addressing the position.
One possible option could be signing Kyle Trask in free agency. Spytek and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Trask in the second round out of Florida in 2021.
Trask, who’ll turn 27 in March, has bene Tampa Bay’s backup. He has played in seven NFL games (with no starts) and he has completed 4-of-11 pass attempts in his career.
So, Trask is unlikely to be signed by the Raiders, or anyone, to compete for the starting job, but he could be brought in as a backup even if the team decides to go with incumbent Aidan O’Connell as the starter.
What are your thoughts on a Trask pursuit?
