For the second consecutive offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders are in a state of flux as they look to restructure the organization.
Following a dispiriting 2024 season where they finished with a 4-13 record, the Raiders decided to fire head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco. Pierce and Telesco were elevated to their roles last offseason but are now out of Las Vegas just one year into their respective tenures.
Owner Mark Davis has been adamant that he is devoted to fixing the Raiders and getting back to the playoffs, but that’s been much more difficult than anticipated. However, Davis now has help from Tom Brady, who was officially named a minority owner in the franchise in October.
Now that Brady is on board, he has seized control and influence quickly within the Las Vegas organization via Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
“This is Tom’s show now,” a person with knowledge of the situation told the Review-Journal.
It’s no surprise that Brady is being given a bigger voice and more decision-making power within the Raiders, given his status as arguably the greatest NFL player of all time. While Brady was lauded for his on-the-field production, he now has a chance to shape Las Vegas’ infrastructure and build it in an entirely different direction.
So far, there are already signs that Brady’s presence is proving beneficial, as the team was able to secure interviews with candidates like Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson for their vacant head coaching position. Usually, prospective first-time head coaches like Johnson might be turned off by a team like the Raiders, but Brady makes it a more attractive destination.
While Davis is expected to have the final say on any major decisions, he has already shown a willingness to let Brady chime in. Brady reportedly advised Davis to fire Pierce and Telesco and is now expected to lead the charge in replacing them.
It’ll be interesting to see how Brady and the rest of the ownership group address some of their open positions, but there’s no doubt that the future Hall of Famer will have a chance to mold the team in his vision and image.
Maxx Crosby reacts to Antonio Pierce’s firing
Maxx Crosby has endured a lot of change since being drafted by Las Vegas and had a close relationship with Pierce before his dismissal. Following Pierce’s dismissal, Crosby reacted to the news and was non-committal about his future with the franchise.
