The Las Vegas Raiders finally ended their 10-game losing streak by defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-14 on Sunday. While some fans were unhappy with the result as it dropped the Raiders multiple spots in the order for the 2025 NFL Draft, the players did not share that sentiment, nor did team owner Mark Davis.
The players being happy and excited to pick up a win should be expected. As is the case in any sport, the players do not care about a team’s draft position, as oftentimes, the team could be drafting players who would replace them. However, an owner might have a different thought process when looking at the team’s long-term future.
That wasn’t the case for Davis, however, at least in this instance, as he was in the locker room celebrating with the Raiders roster after the win over the Jaguars, via Tashan Reed of The Athletic:
#Raiders owner Mark Davis was in the locker room clapping and talking to Daniel Carlson and AJ Cole when the locker room opened to the media. Some other players were dancing. Davis was in a good mood. Doesn’t seem to care about the draft order ramifications of the win over JAX.

With their win, the Raiders are now tied with the Jaguars, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns for the second-worst record in the NFL at 3-12, with the New York Giants now alone at the top spot with a 2-13 record. However, the Raiders are at the bottom of the group of five teams and thus would pick sixth overall were the draft to happen today. But Davis doesn’t seem to care about that, and that surely sits well with everyone in the locker room as they want to know that their owner wants to see them succeed.
With the team’s need for a quarterback well known and the draft featuring a pair of signal callers expected to be the top picks, this win does make it more difficult for the Raiders to land either Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, who has long been linked to this franchise.
There are still two more games and plenty of things can happen that could change the final draft order, but for now, Davis and the Raiders are more than happy to celebrate their first win in a long time.
Shedeur Sanders would prefer to play for Raiders over Giants?
While Mark Davis and the Raiders are in a good mood after their win, Colorado star QB Shedeur Sanders may not be feeling the same. Sanders has been linked with the Raiders for a long time, and the team falling to sixth in the draft order makes it more difficult for him to land there.
And reportedly, Las Vegas is where Sanders would prefer to be, at least more so than in New York with the Giants, as a recent report noted that the Colorado QB’s preference would be to land with the Raiders.
