The Las Vegas Raiders are in the midst of an important offseason as the team searches for a new head coach and general manager. Minority owner Tom Brady is expected to have a major say in those decisions, but the franchise must also make sure that superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby remains happy as well.
Crosby is the leader of this Raiders team and a true pillar of this franchise, but he has been outspoken about his frustrations with the lack of winning. He has said that he wants to be with the Raiders for his entire career, but didn’t rule out the possibility of going elsewhere if the losing persists and the franchise doesn’t have a plan.
The Raiders star also spoke about some upcoming conversations he planned on having with Raiders brass and he has already had some talks with Brady, which he opened up about recently, noting that he is excited about the future, via Michael Canelo of Sports Illustrated:
“Yeah, I have known Tom for a few years now,” said Crosby. “You know, we talk here and there. Like you said, he came in to win and that is what he had done his whole life. You know he is a Michigan man, I am as well. I believe in Tom, and we will see what happens. I am really excited to see what the future holds.”
Crosby being locked in with Brady is a great sign and both are committed to restoring a winning culture to this Raiders franchise. And Crosby did also reiterate his desire to play in these important games in January:
“Yeah that is the truth. That is why I work all year round. I do not just turn it up when April gets here. It is literally 365 for me. I want to be the best in what I do and play in those games. In the games that has a lot of meaning. That is why I play the game. That is why everyone plays the game. But for me, you know I am going into my seventh year, I am not going to play forever and I put everything into it. So seeing a cold game, playing on the road against the Chiefs you know Buffalo, all those games, that is what I want to be in. I know I will be there. We are going to see what happens. I am looking forward to it.”
Ultimately Crosby, Brady, Mark Davis and the rest of this franchise all want the same thing. The decisions made this offseason will go a long way towards establishing that and bringing the Raiders back amongst the top NFL franchises.
Maxx Crosby reacts to Raiders firing head coach Antonio Pierce
One thing that has been frustrating to Maxx Crosby has been the constant turnover at head coach, which makes it very difficult to maintain any sort of consistency and success. The team firing Antonio Pierce this offseason didn’t sit well with some, but Crosby’s commitment to this franchise has not changed.
Crosby reacted to the firing, noting how he believed in Pierce as a coach, but reiterated that he wants to remain with the Raiders going forward.
