
Marcus Epps joins Raiders’ teammates in AFC East
The Las Vegas Raiders’ defensive player exodus continued Friday.
Former starting safety Marcus Epps agreed to a one-year, $4.4 million contract with the New England Patriots on Friday.
Epps joins former Las Vegas teammates, linebacker Robert Spillane and pass-rusher K’Lavon Chaisson to sign with New England this week. Spillane and Epps signed with the Raiders in 2023 when new Patriots’ offensive coordinator was Las Vegas’ head coach. The Raiders play at New England this season.
Epps is the eighth Las Vegas free agent to sign elsewhere this week. He was one of five 2024 Week 1 starters to leave. In addition to Epps and Spillane the other defensive starters to leave this week are safety Tre’von Moehrig (Carolina), nickel cornerback Nate Hobbs (Green Bay) and linebacker Divine Deablo (Atlanta).
The other free agents to leave are running back Alexander Mattison (Miami), and tight end Harrison Bryant (Philadelphia). Released quarterback Gardner Minshew signed with Kansas City.
Epps started all 17 games i 2023 after signing from Philadelphia. He tore his ACL in Week 3 in 2024 and was replaced by Isaiah Pola-Mao. The new Raiders’ regime extended Pola-Mao’s contract last month as a restricted free agent. he is expected to start at safety along with Jeremy Chinn, who was signed form Washington to replace Moehrig,
