Expect Las Vegas to add in the draft
The Las Vegas Raiders entered the offseason with running back being a big need. They added in free agency and they probably aren’t done adding at the position,
Let’s take a look where the position stands a week-plus into free agency:
New free agent added:
Raheem Mostert (Miami Dolphins).
Free agent who departed:
Alexander Mattison (Miami Dolphins).
Current free agents:
Ameer Abdullah.
Returners:
Zamir White, Dylan Laube, Sincere McCormick, Chris Collier, Isaiah Spiller.
Draft:
Expect Las Vegas to add a starting-quality running back in the early rounds of the draft.
Conclusion:
New Raiders’ head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly plan to help new starting quarterback Geno Smith with a strong running game. Mostert had a big season in 2023, but he had a rough 2024 campaign. He will be 33 and he an injury history. The Athletic has reported the Raiders could be open to trading Zamir White, who struggled last year after being the Week 1 starter. That could mean White could have a tough time making the 53-man roster if he is kept. The Raiders will need a lead abck and expect him to come in the draft perhaps as early as the first round with Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton as potential targets.
