There’s been some movement on interior defensive front
There has been some activity at the Las Vegas Raiders’ defensive tackle position this week.
Let’s look at how the unit stands:
Claimed off waivers:
Seventh-round pick, Jonah Laulu from the Indianapolis Colts. He played at Hawaii and Oklahoma
Waived:
Byron Young. He was cut Wednesday to help make room for the Laulu claim after Young initially made the 53-man roster. He was a third-round pick out of Alabama last year. He didn’t play most of the season and he was not impressive this preseason.
Starters:
Christian Wilkins and John Jenkins
Reserves:
Adam Butler, Nesta Jade Silvera and Laulu.
Conclusion:
The key is for Wilkins, Jenkins and Butler to stay healthy. Yes, Silvera and Laulu may play in the rotation, but they are both young late-round picked are still developing. If there is any injuries, the Raiders’ may have to revisit the open market at this position during the season.
