We do our best to save you some time and predict when the 49ers will make their first round selection
If you’re a fan of the San Francisco 49ers but not the National Football League as a whole, Thursday’s first round of the 2025 NFL Draft might drag to watch with the 49ers scheduled to pick 11th.
That means ten picks of analysis, speculation, and camera shots of NFL hopefuls waiting for their names to be called until the spotlight is on the 49ers. But just how long will that wait be? I looked at the last few drafts to try to make an educated guess on what time exactly San Francisco will be on the clock at 11.
While I couldn’t find one for the 2024 draft, ESPN has posted its live reaction stream on YouTube from 2021 to 2023. Each year has a collection of ESPN personalities and analysts following along in real-time, giving us some time stamps for exactly when the 11th selection is on the clock:
2023: 1:26:46
2022: 1:31:12
2021: 1:37:46
With the draft broadcast beginning at 5 pm PST, the average time for those timestamps comes out to 6:31 pm, creeping into 6:32. But that’s just the average with 2023 being the earliest with the 11th team on the clock at 6:26 and the latest coming in 2021 at 6:37.
With that information, if you’re a fan who only cares about what the 49ers do with the 11th selection and nothing else, be on the couch around 6:15 to play it safe.
According to the most updated odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, the 49ers are destined to draft a defensive lineman with their first selection. It was +150 two nights ago. As of writing, the Niners are now down to +105 to select a player along the defensive line.
