The Texans had a hand in getting one quarterback benched last week.
Tonight’s Thursday Night Football game will be fun, if not one-sided. The New York Jets are hosting the Houston Texans. Many San Francisco 49ers fans are Texans fans because DeMeco Ryans is the head coach, so there’s some interest in the game already.
The Texans are 6-2, and quarterback C.J. Stroud is showing progress. From a high level, a good stat to look at is his 11 touchdowns to four interceptions. It goes to show you his development is coming along nicely. Unlike the quarterback he faced last week, Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts. Richardson has been benched for the remainder of the season for Joe Flacco, of all people. I’m sure DeMeco Ryans’ defense had a hand in that.
The Jets are a disaster. We all know about them firing Robert Saleh. Despite the coaching change, the losses continue, and they are currently 2-6. Wide receiver Allen Lazard has been placed on injured reserve to add to their offensive issues. Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been too hot on the Jets either. Aaron Rodgers has 12 touchdowns (one more than the quarterback he faces tonight), but he also has seven interceptions. He does have his hail mary play that everyone can reference for his greatness, however.
FanDuel sportsbook has the Jets favored by 2.5 points. Um, what? From what I’ve read, this has to do with money coming in and the way the Texans have struggled against teams over the last few weeks.
That line is a steal. Bet the Texans, and don’t look back. That defense will be more than enough for Rodgers to handle, especially when we just learned he’s without one of his targets. I’m not so hot over the over/under set at 42.5 points, but I’m going to put some faith in these defenses and think it’s a pretty low-scoring game. For anytime touchdowns, throw some money on the Houston defense. Something tells me Aaron Rodgers has a pick-six in him tonight. We’ll see. I’m not too positive about those two latter bets, but I’m all over taking the Texans and the points.
Of course, since I’m betting the Texans, I know what will probably happen. Sorry, Texans fans.
