The Jaguars are bringing in multiple coaches for a second round, and the 49ers defensive coordinator candidate is one.
The Jacksonville Jaguars announced they are bringing in three candidates for second interviews for their head coaching vacancy. Those candidates are former Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Cohen, and potential San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator target Robert Saleh.
The 49ers appear to be playing the waiting game while Saleh continues to take interviews. We’ll see if the Jaguars interview any other candidates a second time, but the two above are defensive minds. They just fired Doug Pederson, who is offensive. Perhaps Jacksonville is looking to go defensive with this next hire.
The Niners’ lack of interviews suggests they are primarily interested in Saleh’s services, but those interviews could increase if Saleh impresses Jacksonville enough to be named their next head coach.
Should the 49ers be concerned, they’ll lose Saleh? If that’s the case, is Kyle Shanahan comfortable moving forward with Brandon Staley as their defensive coordinator? Or will none of this matter, and Saleh ends up with the 49ers once it’s all said and done?
