There’s still no long-term extension between Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers but the two sides are reportedly on speaking terms, per the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
According to the esteemed insider, Aiyuk and the team met on Monday and it was said to have been productive.
“They’re moving forward, and they want Aiyuk to be a part of the team in 2024,” Pelissero shared. “So what I would anticipate here is all parties involved will go ahead and enjoy the Fourth of July holiday, regroup sometime after that.”
“They’ve still got several weeks here to see if they can hammer out a deal that locks in Brandon Aiyuk with San Francisco for the long haul,” he added.
The two sides’ meeting is a ray of light in what’s been a pretty dark cloud when it comes to the All-Pro’s future in The Bay.
Aiyuk has made it clear that he wants to be paid whether it’s with the 49ers or not, while the organization has been publicly adamant that it would like to keep him in a gold helmet for a “long time.”
