The San Francisco 49ers have some clarity at defensive coordinator, as Robert Saleh appears to be out of the running for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching position.

According to Maiocco, Sorensen is no longer in the running for the 49ers’ special teams coordinator position and is also not expected to return to the team in 2025. It had to be a difficult conversation to have, but Sorensen likely wanted a fresh start and another opportunity to either be a coordinator or work on defense.
