49ers got a beast of a lineman.
When an NFL team drafts an offensive lineman, there’s highlight reels of them embarassing defenders. Usually there’s one clip that justifies the pick rolling around social media saying “They took this guy.”
Take 2016 pick Joshua Garnett. That guy did not work out, but there was one video of him passed around social media of him knocking a poor man on his back.
Ok, so here’s the thing about latest offensive lineman Dominick Puni: he has multiple, high quality videos of that. Oh we’ll get to those in a second, but I also want to share a nice little quirk about him.
See, here at Niners Nation, there’s a strange saying of “Who loves da sack?” I can tell you with absolute certainty, Puni hates the sack. He doesn’t want anything to do with the sack. Probably why he’s allowed 0 sacks last season. 25 straight starts at tackle and guard with a snap count over a thousand and not one sack
He doesn’t like people getting by him. Plus there’s some versatility here. Kyle Shanahan said in the press conference they plan on putting him in the interior, but maybe he can go to tackle later.
Ok enough of all this gloss. Enjoy these highlights. I can say I yelled “Wa-bam!” more times than probably healthy:
