The San Francisco 49ers didn’t hold up their end of the bargain for a potential Super Bowl rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs.
While the 49ers stumbled to a 6-11 finish this year, the Chiefs cruised to a 15-2 regular season record, a first-round bye, and another AFC title game appearance. They’ll play host to the Buffalo Bills, who have had their own postseason struggles with Kansas City.
The Chiefs just continue plugging away winning games, even if it isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as it used to be. San Francisco knows first-hand about the Chiefs’ ability to win messy games. So do the Bills. They’ve had more postseason losses to QB Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs than the 49ers have. The Bills and QB Josh Allen are 0-3 against the Chiefs in the playoffs since their first meeting in the 2020 AFC championship game.

Bills vs. Chiefs prediction, pick
It’s hard to put much stock into the Bills’ regular season win over Kansas City. However, this may be the year lightning strikes for Buffalo. Their defense should have the tools to at least limit an up-and-down Chiefs offense. Plus, Bills QB Josh Allen may just be playing well enough to overcome a very good Kansas City defense and help Buffalo earn a trip to the Super Bowl.
Prediction: Bills 24, Chiefs 23
