The San Francisco 49ers’ practice report from Thursday came with a mixed bag of injury news.
On the good side, wide receiver Deebo Samuel was back in action while recovering from a calf strain he suffered in Week 3. Linebacker Dee Winters was back as well after sitting out Wednesday’s session because of an ankle issue. Left tackle Trent Williams also participated after missing Wednesday with an illness.
On the bad side, two players were carted off during Thursday’s session according to reporters in Santa Clara. Defensive tackle Jordan Elliott and linebacker Curtis Robinson both exited the session. Elliott was listed as limited with an ankle injury, while Robinson was limited with a knee injury. The extent of their ailments is unknown.
Here’s the full practice report from Thursday:
Did not participate
WR Jacob Cowing (illness)
DT Javon Hargrave (triceps)
It wouldn’t be ideal if there was an illness running through the 49ers’ locker room. Cowing is also not going to rise up the wide receiver depth chart any faster by missing a practice.
Limited participation
DT Jordan Elliott (foot)
TE George Kittle (hamstring)
LB Curtis Robinson (knee)
WR Deebo Samuel (calf)
LB Dee Winters (ankle)
Head coach Kyle Shanahan will speak with reporters Friday and should have more details on the extent of Elliott and Robinson’s injuries. Samuel and Winters returning after their absences Wednesday could give them a chance to play Sunday. George Kittle also participated for a second day in a row. Friday’s injury report will tell us their official statuses.
Full participation
QB Brock Purdy (back)
LT Trent Williams (illness)
No setbacks for Purdy and Williams’s illness didn’t knock him out for more than one practice. Good signs here.
