It’s too early for any updates regarding Talanoa Hufanga’s wrist injury, while Ricky Pearsall will be sidelined for at least another week.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan held a conference call Monday morning to provide a few injury updates.
It’s too early to get any updates for safety Talanoa Hufanga’s wrist injury. Shanahan said, “he definitely has a wrist,” which hinted at Hufanga likely missing Thursday’s divisional showdown against the Seattle Seahawks. The team will have Hufanga’s MRI back later on Monday afternoon.
Jake Moody’s high ankle sprain was confirmed, and the team will have his replacement in the building later on Monday. Shanahan said the team would bring in four kickers on Monday, saying the 49ers personnel team is still scrambling to see who they were: “I think we got four guys coming in later today. I don’t have their names. That’s what the guys are working on now.”
Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles is unlikely to play on Thursday with a calf injury. Dee Winters played 26 snaps in Week 5 in Flannigan-Fowle’s absence.
Wide receivers Jacob Cowing (shoulder) and Chris Conley (oblique) remain day-to-day with their respective injuries.
Staying on the wide receiver front, Ricky Pearsall won’t have his practice window opened up this week and will continue rehabbing. Shanahan said it’s mainly due to the 49ers not practicing this week.
Edge rusher Yetur Gross-Matos could miss anywhere from a month to two months after having surgery on the same knee he injured during the preseason, per Shanahan:
“I think he got his surgery on Friday. They told me their estimate is 4-8 weeks. It was the same injury that he had in the last preseason game. We thought giving it a long rest would be able to help it. It did for a little bit. The more he started playing, the more it started aggravating a little bit.”
Shanahan said he believes it was a good decision to shut Gross-Matos down for the time being.
Sam Okuayinonu played a season-high 23 snaps in Week 5. The defensive line should be relatively well-rested on a short week. Nick Bosa was the only lineman to play over 40 snaps.
