One member of the San Francisco 49ers might be a little conflicted by Sunday’s result (very deep down).
Niners kicker Jake Moody, a Michigan native who played at U of M, was reportedly raised by two die-hard Lions fans; the team that their son is set to face in this weekend’s NFC Championship.
“I’ve been a Lions fan basically since birth,” Moody’s father Chad said in a recent interview. “It’s tough, but we’re going to root for the 49ers. Our son’s on the team, so of course, we’ll root for our son’s team. … If the 49ers do happen to lose, I’ll be breaking out my Lions gear for the Super Bowl.”
“The second a team plays against my son, I’m going to root for my son, of course,” his mom, Lisa, added.
It may be hard for Moody’s parents tomorrow but at least it sounds like they’ll be in a win-win situation.
And it probably doesn’t help that Moody is currently going through a bit of a slump. He missed a field goal in last week’s win over the Packers and missed both a field goal and an extra point in the 49ers’ season finale against the Rams.
