Jennings just earned one heck of a raised. One that he earned.
NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco tweeted San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings was spotted at 49ers’ headquarters this afternoon for OTAs.
Not even 20 minutes later, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Jennings signed a two-year deal worth up to $15.4 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed. Since Jennings did not sign his free-agent tender, this is a one-year extension. He is now signed through the 2025 season.
Jennings was set to make just under $3 million had he signed his tender. Now, he’ll more than triple that on his newest contract, judging by the guaranteed money. It’ll be interesting to see the details in Jennings’ contract and what clauses are included for him to reach the full $15.4 million.
Regardless, Jennings gets a well-earned extension and is the type of story that should be celebrated. Jennings had previously played on a one-year contract for $940,000 and another one-year deal worth $660,000 in the previous two seasons. After his postseason performance and overall contribution to a team that’s consistently made a deep playoff run, this deal is beyond deserved. Congrats to Jauan.
