49ers hosting Walter Nolen and Mykel Williams on pre-draft visits
“Like [Michigan DT Mason] Graham, he’s a little smaller than the prototypical defensive tackle — Nolen is 296 pounds with 32 1/2-inch arms — and he wasn’t as productive in college as [Oregon DT Derrick] Harmon…..“A season-long ankle injury likely sank Williams’ production — five sacks, nine tackles for loss — last season. But his size and relentlessness should serve him well in the NFL. Drafting a defensive end early could be the answer to the 49ers’ long-running musical chairs situation at the position.”
49ers hosting Tennessee DT Omarr Norman-Lott on pre-draft visit
“Norman-Lott’s game is built on quickness, making him a good fit for Kris Kocurek,” Barrows wrote. “As you would expect, there are a number of D-linemen on SF’s visit list.”
Christian McCaffrey ‘healthy’ but 49ers expect to pick running back in NFL draft
“The knee injury is not expected to have any carryover impact on McCaffrey’s 2025 season, but the 49ers consider themselves in the market to add another running back in this month’s NFL draft.
“You always hope to address it every year,” Shanahan said of the position. “Of course, we’re set with McCaffrey, but every single year we’ve gone through this except for two years, we’ve gone through four running backs. Most teams do, so you always got to be prepared for that.”
FOX Sports identifies Arizona State running back as a potential 49ers draft fit
“The 49ers traded Jordan Mason and lost Elijah Mitchell to the Chiefs in free agency,” Williams explained, “so the hard-running Skattebo would have a chance to earn playing time as a back-end roster player and core special teamer. In this scenario, the California native would return to the Bay Area to learn the position under a player he admires in McCaffrey.”
