Brandon Aiyuk reveals what 49ers told him during contract talks
“Aiyuk admitted that there have been times they were close to a deal, and other times that they were far apart. After Monday’s meeting with GM John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan, which reportedly went well, there’s been no indication about whether or not they’re any closer. But the meeting was seen as a positive step.”
State of the 49ers, RBs: Will Kyle Shanahan ease Christian McCaffrey’s workload? (paywall)
“Earning playing time under running backs coach Bobby Turner in Kyle Shanahan’s system is a function of trust. If those two coaches can count on a back to consistently deliver in all facets of the game, he should see at least some time on the field, especially given Shanahan’s recent statement about potentially reducing McCaffrey’s workload.”
Aiyuk predicts which team he’ll play for next season amid 49ers talks
“It’s unclear whether or not Aiyuk wants his guess to come to fruition, but it’s somewhat promising for San Francisco and the Faithful that the fifth-year veteran said “Niners” before any other team.”
Brandon Aiyuk on contract: Last month or so, you could say we’re pretty far apart
“They told me that they didn’t think that we were on the same page and that they didn’t believe that we were going to,” Aiyuk said. “And that was about it at that time. But it’s part of it. It’s part of the contract negotiations, trying to sway stuff in either direction. So whether that’s 100 percent true or not, I guess that’s still to find out.”
