Why do the 49ers think Ji’Ayir Brown could be the future? Check out his past (paywall)
“Brown attacked Tuesday practices like Saturday games. And his perma-grin didn’t fade as he logged endless hours lifting weights and devouring film…Duda knows football, which can exact a severe physical and mental toll, isn’t for everyone. Plenty of his NFL teammates dispassionately endured it because it could provide fat contracts and fame. But Brown arrived at Lackawanna and acted as if all aspects of the sport were part of an all-expenses-paid vacation.”
“You know, I was thrown into the fire pretty quickly, and I think early on in practice when I was in the huddle and I had George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, Trent Williams, Brandon Aiyuk, Kyle Juszczyk, all these guys, I felt like I was on a Pro Bowl roster,” McCaffrey told NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt on Friday during “Good Morning Football.”
“Offseason work is just one piece of the equation. The more difficult part will be translating that work into live reps.”
Rice recalls hilarious emotion of receiving CMC touchdown ball
““… We watched that one on film, and we didn’t know it was Jerry at first, and everyone’s like, ‘Who’d you give the ball to?’ “ McCaffrey recalled. “[Kittle’s] like, ‘Just look.’”
Key addition saves 49ers from ‘very bad’ PFF offseason grade
““The addition of Javon Hargrave to an already dominant defense is the only thing saving this from a very bad offseason grade. Hargrave accounted for 57 total pressures last season for the Eagles, more than double any 49ers interior lineman. Clelin Ferrell is a far more quietly solid addition to the defensive front, and Sam Darnold could easily end up starting at quarterback if Brock Purdy’s elbow doesn’t heal quickly enough.”
