Rumor: Browns are trying to trade for 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk
“Within the feature, reporter Cam Inman references a social media post from unaffiliated NFL reporter John Frascella, who claims Aiyuk may have a trade suitor. However, Inman notes that, last April, Frascella reported Aiyuk had requested a trade, which the receiver’s agent refuted. Aiyuk ultimately requested a trade, but it was three months later.
Now, Frascella reports that the Cleveland Browns have been actively exploring a potential deal for the 49ers receiver. While the report’s validity remains uncertain, rumors linking Aiyuk to the Browns have been swirling for the past week.
“The Cleveland Browns have been pounding the 49ers in the past week or so, trying to find a deal that works for Brandon Aiyuk,” Frascella wrote in his social media post.
He also suggests the Browns may be eyeing Aiyuk as a key target for quarterback Shedeur Sanders—a potential draft target.”
Why 49ers will need major contributions from 2025 draft class
“Perhaps, the deep and talented draft class of defensive linemen likely shaped the team’s offseason strategy. After all, the 49ers’ only offseason move along the defensive front has been to re-sign Givens to a one-year contract.
Lynch said the 49ers were determined to trim salary-cap costs and get younger. The addition of a potential 11-player draft class can help the 49ers meet both of those goals.
With four picks in the top 100 and eight total within the first 160 selections in the draft, the 49ers will have plenty of opportunities to add starters and backups to their defensive line.”
“According to Wilson, Jacobs put together an impressive Pro Day performance, recording a 4.6-second 40-yard dash, a 36.5-inch vertical jump, and 17 bench press reps.
“Iowa [Hawkeye] transfer widely considered early Day 3 prospect when he joined Ducks after impressive coverage work alongside Jack Campbell,” Wilson wrote.”
“The defensive lineman posted elite grades in both of his seasons with the Mustangs, earning a defensive grade of at least 91.1 and a pass-rush grade of at least 90.7 each year. His 91.1 defensive grade in 2024 ranked fourth nationally among edge rushers, while his 60 pressures tied for sixth-most. In 2023, he ranked second nationally with 71 pressures.
“Roberts is a strong, well-built defensive lineman who has a lot of experience at different alignments,” Pro Football Focus wrote. “He likely lacks the length, twitch and bend to be a full-time edge player, but his size and versatility could play well as a 3-4 defensive end who can move along gaps.”
