Report: 49ers org ‘fully believes’ in Shanahan despite lost season
“The dark cloud hanging over the San Francisco 49ers just won’t seem to lift,” Russini wrote. “It’s been a difficult season, one that’s felt ‘off’ since the summer, but the team is sticking to its plan. They’re firmly committed to Brock Purdy as their long-term quarterback.
“I’ve been told the 49ers are still planning to negotiate a multi-year contract extension with Purdy this offseason, backing up the message they’ve consistently sent: ‘Purdy is our quarterback.’ “
Greenlaw, in return from injury, sat out in second half ‘to protect myself a little bit’ (paywall)
““This knee kind of felt a little weird, so I just wanted to protect myself a little bit,” Greenlaw said. “The knee kind of didn’t feel right and everything kind of got a little tight. Got to make sure I use precaution on it.”
In a must-win game, Greenlaw had eight tackles in 30 snaps and the Rams averaged 3.3 yards per play before he exited. They averaged 6.3 yards per play after Greenlaw was sidelined.
Shanahan said Friday that Greenlaw’s knee and Achilles “checked out good.”
“He’s just dealing with some soreness,” Shanahan said. “So he should be good going forward.”
