Your daily San Francisco 49ers news for Monday, January 6th, 2025
“But outside of that, Pearsall had another excellent game. He made up for a terrible underthrow from Dobbs earlier that set up a score, and had a touchdown on a low crosser later in the game. He went for six catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, Renardo Green was stellar, as he has been all year. He had at least three clear pass breakups and had a nice run stop on a Kyler Murray keeper. He looks like an upper echelon starting NFL corner. He left with a groin injury, but it’s clear his spot on the 49ers and in the league is secure.”
Maiocco’s Observations: Disastrous season ends with loss to Cardinals
“Coming off a Super Bowl appearance and with high hopes to finally get over the top this year, the 49ers finished the regular season in last place in the NFC West with a 6-11 record and hold the No. 11 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.”
“Contract extensions for both players — which could lower their 2025 salary cap numbers — aren’t out of the question, especially for Kittle. He’s entering the final year of a five-year, $75 million extension he signed in 2020. That deal has been reconfigured multiple times for cap savings but he’s scheduled to count $22,085,000 against next year’s cap, a figure that would exceed his previous highest cap hit by a little less than $10 million. His deal also includes void years through 2028 that add up to a $13,625,000 cap hit in 2026 after the contract expires.”
Where 49ers will pick in 2025 NFL Draft after season-ending loss
“San Francisco last held the No. 11 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, selecting offensive tackle Anthony Davis out of Rutgers. Davis would go on to start 79 games for the 49ers, including eight playoff appearances, across six seasons.”
