Warner is over last year and didn’t even like when his teammates were trash talking Philadelphia during the offseason
Trash talk is inevitable in sports. Some would say that it’s welcomed and makes for better entertainment. But in the case of the 49ers and Eagles, last year was last year. From Kyle Shanahan to Fred Warner, the Niners are making it a point to say that they’ve turned the page.
On his recent “The Warner House” episode, Warner gave kudos to the Eagles last year:
“People are going to jump to what happened last year in the NFC Championship game. I’m kind of over that whole thing. I know some of our players, throughout the offseason, were saying stuff about it. I honestly wish we hadn’t. You can sit there and make the excuse about the whole Brock situation, blah blah blah. At the end of the day, they beat us. They earned that.”
Niners wideout Deebo Samuel was vocal throughout the offseason and even said earlier this week that he didn’t regret anything he said.
The 31-7 score from that game hardly tells the full story. It’s tough to muster much of an offense when you, in the most literal sense, are without a quarterback.
Nick Bosa echoed a similar sentiment Wednesday, saying, “last year, it’s over with.” He continued: “Neither team finished the job, so it’s not like they’re looking back and reminiscing on an NFC Championship win, either. We were both sad at the end of the year. We both have aspirations to win Super Bowls, so it’s a new year and this is a big step for both of us to get to that aspiration.”
Bosa is aware of the challenge the Eagles present. He called Philadelphia one of the best offensive lines in the NFL and said that they have “some of the best tackles we’ll face.”
