The 49ers on August 7 honored the late Dwight Clark. 87 day included an open practice inside Levi’s Stadium, and raised awareness for ALS patients and their families.
Clark was a 10th-round pick in the 1979 draft out of Clemson, and he went on to put together a stellar NFL career in San Francisco. While he’s best known for ‘The Catch’ in the 1981 NFC championship game, which sent the 49ers to their first Super Bowl, he also had an excellent nine seasons in red and gold.
In 134 games, Clark hauled in 506 receptions for 6,750 yards and 48 touchdowns. He was a two-time Pro Bowler and earned a First-Team All-Pro nod in 1982 when he led the NFL in receptions and racked up 101.4 yards per game.
