The Seattle Seahawks will have a different looking wide receiver core in 2025. 49ers CB Deommodore Lenoir
The Seattle Seahawks were in the news Wednesday after releasing long-time veteran Tyler Lockett and requesting a trade for DK Metcalf.
Lockett would be an interesting pivot for the San Francisco 49ers. He’ll be 33 and only averaged 35 yards receiving per game last season, but he’s always open and catches everything. We also don’t believe Deebo’s replacement is on the roster. More on that later.
You are missing out if you are not following Deommodore Lenoir on social media. He’s Jimmie Ward reincarnated with how hilarious and blunt he is. Once Lenoir got wind of Metcalf’s trade request, Lenoir went on Instagram Live to explain why he didn’t want Metcalf to leave:
“Y’all cannot let DK leave. Y’all can’t do that. How am I gonna have fun out there? Njigba, he be crying all day. He cry. That’s all he do is cry. ‘Ref he holding. He holding ref. Oh no, don’t hurt me.’ I’m not worried about JSN. I’m not. He knows that. He knows that.
Back to DK, we can’t let you leave, unless you wanna be a Niner. That’s the only way. Then again, I like going against you. Because you’re the only receiver that’s going to be out there on that time. He’s going to come and hit somebody in the face. Then I gotta show you I ain’t no buster, hit you back. And then we’re just going at it.
I ain’t recruiting. It low key had me mad when I got that text in the morning. It got me hot.”
This was all said with a deadpan face, making the interaction all the more funny. In Week 6, Lenoir limited JSN to one reception and had a pass breakup. Things did not go as well for Lenoir in the second matchup, as Smith-Njigba caught six of his seven targets for 50 yards and three first downs. However, since he had an interception, Lenoir likely feels he won the battle.
The 49ers have had success against Metcalf in the most recent meetings, especially with Charavrius Ward. So I wouldn’t want to see him go anywhere, either.
But the point is that Lenoir’s borderline brashness came out in full force after Kyle Shanahan said he wasn’t much of a talker early in his career. Oh, how things have changed.
