San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been mentioned in a plethora of trade rumors over the past 24 hours. It certainly doesn’t help that his squad drafted another playmaker in Florida’s Ricky Pearsall.
Moments ago, Dianna Russini of The Athletic revealed that she spoke to Samuel about the nonstop trade rumors. She also asked him about the 49ers drafting Pearsall.
Samuel made it sound like he’s staying in the Bay Area.
“I know what’s going on, but it is what it is,” Samuel said. “I’m good staying with them. I’m chilling.”
The Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots were mentioned as trade suitors for Samuel, but NFL insider Jordan Schultz said it’s unlikely either AFC East team acquires him. It’s possible the asking price for the All-Pro is too high.
Longtime NFL columnist Mike Silver reported the 49ers are “seeking second- and third-round selections for Samuel.” Considering he’s coming off a down year and is on an expensive contract, it’s tough for teams to meet those demands.
The 49ers could always go into the 2024 season with all their weapons around Brock Purdy and then reassess their situation in the offseason.
Besides, the 49ers are a better team with Samuel on the roster.
