A running back feels right.
The 49ers have two picks in the fourth round after trading one to the Philadelphia Eagles to select Dominick Puni. They also have two fifth-rounders, a sixth-round pick, and a seventh-round pick. It would not be surprising to see the team package picks to move up again, as they did for Puni.
San Francisco could add another lineman, maybe some depth on the defensive line, as they did with Robert Beal on Day 3 last year. It wouldn’t feel right if Kyle Shanahan didn’t select a running back at some point today. Could we also see a quarterback? Help for George Kittle?
A cornerback that many had going in the top 50 is still available: Iowa State’s T.J. Tampa. Notre Dame’s Cam Hart is another fit.
Dre Greenlaw’s injury could open the door for a linebacker. The 49ers met with Tatum Bethune, who is projected to go in the sixth round.
At tight end, Jared Wiley, Jaheim Bell, Dallin Hooker, and Erick All could each contribute.
If Shanahan covets speed at running back in this draft, he’s in luck. Jaylen Wright, Isaac Guerendo, Audric Estime, Bucky Iriving, and Tyrone Tracy all play fast.
At center, Tanor Bortolini, Beaux Limmer, and Hunter Nourzad could all start next year.
