Baker Mayfield and Tampa Bay look to beat up on the Commanders
In the final game of the day, another rookie quarterback will make his first start on the road. Things did not go well for Bo Nix this morning, so Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders are hoping for better fortune.
The NFC South and East didn’t exactly play a murderer’s row of schedules. But Washington and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers flashed plenty of offensive potential. The problem for both teams has been getting stops defensively.
In fairness to each team, they’ve had key injuries. Antoine Winfield Jr. and Jamel Dean have been banged up. They are key contributors to Tampa Bay’s secondary. Marshon Lattimore has only played one game due to a hamstring injury that has lingered, and defensive tackle Jonathan Allen just recently returned to the lineup.
The Commanders are ahead of schedule, and I think the Buccaneers are poised for a big evening. Expect Jalen McMillan to have a big night, and Bucky Irving to run wild as Tampa Bay’s defense puts the clamps on Kliff Kingsbury and the Commanders.
