An AFC West matchup. I know who we’re rooting for.
Tonight’s Sunday Night Football game will be an AFC West matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. As you know, Jim Harbaugh, who once coached the San Francisco 49ers, coaches the Chargers. That alone tells you who a lot of us will be rooting for. On the other side of the ball is the Chiefs, and it’s safe to assume most 49ers fans have some bitterness toward KC, so this will be a Chargers house.
The Chargers are sitting second in the AFC West, three games behind the Chiefs. A loss here could be huge, but that would be counting on the Chiefs to lose a few more games, and we know what happens in the final minutes of close Chiefs games. The Chargers have gotten some help with their schedule, getting the likes of the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and others to help them with the win column.
The Chiefs are the Chiefs. They find a way to win. Whether that way includes officiating assistance, field goal luck, or whatever, they still win. I want to say they are one of the worst 11-1 teams I’ve seen, but I know I’ll eat those words, so I’ll keep it to myself (oh, darn it). They just finished another weird victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, a game where the Raiders had them dead to rights, with only a walk-off field goal needed. Then a false start whistled the play dead; the Raiders fumbled the ball after the whistle; somehow, the ball was dead, but the Chiefs recovered the fumble?
Yeah, I didn’t get it either.
FanDuel Sportsbook has the Chiefs favored by 4.5 points. I’ll take the Chargers and the points with this. Jim Harbaugh lives for these types of games and he should manage to keep things close. The Over-Under is set at 42.5. Here, I’m inclined to take the under. I think this will be a swamp-filled slugfest, given who is coaching the Chargers.
Go Chargers!
