Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was visibly upset when the San Francisco 49ers selected Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall with the No. 31 pick.
Stroud was hoping the Texans could snag Pearsall later in the draft. With that said, he raved about the shifty wideout during an appearance on a live draft show.
“I talked to him a couple of times, man. Congrats bro, that’s big time. He’s elite,” Stroud said. “You’ll see. Especially in that offense, man. Kyle’s gonna dial it up for him.”
Stroud then raved about Pearsall’s tape against Missouri. He also compared him to Texans wide receiver Tank Dell.
Even though Stroud was surprised about the pick, Pearsall expected to go relatively early in the draft.
“It’s never a surprise for me I would say, but I was definitely shocked to see San Francisco pop up on my phone when I picked it up,” Pearsall said.

With Pearsall on the roster, the 49ers could look to deal Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel.
According to Mike Silver, the 49ers are much more likely to trade Samuel in the coming days. The All-Pro wideout even shared that report on his Instagram Story.
As for Aiyuk, he’s hoping to land a long-term extension.
