San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy suffered an injury to his UCL on Sunday during the NFC Championship Game.
It occurred during the first quarter and he was hardly able to play the rest of the game. Heck, he could barely throw the ball five yards down the field after he came back in during the second half.
Right now, he’s expected to miss the next six months, but he’s also awaiting second opinions on the elbow to decide what the best course of action will be for next season.
“I still have some options to weigh and will make a final decision soon,” Purdy said, (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk).
If Purdy misses the next six months, he’ll be out until the start of training camp. He’d have to miss all of the 49ers’ offseason activities but the good news is that he’d be good to start the season.
There’s been no indication from the team about what they’ll do regarding the quarterback position heading into next season.
Trey Lance is close to getting cleared and figures to be the favorite to start but Purdy could supplant him if the team thinks he can do what he just did again next season.
It should be a fascinating offseason in the Bay Area.
