Brandon Aiyuk definitely seems to be aware of the comments San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch made earlier today.
At the annual league meetings on Monday, Lynch was asked about the rumors that Aiyuk, who is under contract for 2023 on his rookie option, could be traded.
“We’re actively talking with Brandon, trying to figure something out,” Lynch said. “I always talk—we have a good history of working with the guys we want to get done to get something done, and it takes two sides. So, can we do that? We’ll see.
“There’s a number of different directions that it could go, but we appreciate the heck out of Brandon and who he is as a player. We want him to be a part of the Niners, so we’re going to work towards making that a reality.”
A short time later, Aiyuk posted several emojis on his Instagram story, that when decoded, certainly appeared to be sending a message.
“Money talk, bulls–t walks,” Aiyuk wrote.

While Lynch indicated the 49ers would be okay with Aiyuk playing this season on his fifth-year option, the 2020 first-round pick would obviously be better off securing a long-term deal sooner rather than later.
The 49ers may want that to be with them, but eventually they are going to have to put up or shut up in terms of money. We’ll see if Aiyuk likes what they have to say when that happens.
