Bills star QB Josh Allen gets engaged before matchup against 49ers

The Niners hope to spoil Josh Allen’s engagement week.

The Buffalo Bills enjoyed their BYE week prior to facing the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday, and superstar quarterback Josh Allen took advantage of that little break to take a big personal step. According to a post on Friday by Allen and his girlfriend Hailee Steinfeld’s Instagram, the couple got engaged. With the announcement public, Allen will surely be looking to tack on some victories to celebrate. The Niners, on the other hand, will be hoping to play a bit of a spoiler.

The couple was first seen dating in 2023, but has generally tried to tamper paparazzi attention and has remained private about their relationship.

Steinfeld has been acting in Hollywood since she was a child, getting a big early-career break as a 13-year old in True Grit. As she grew up, Steinfeld has continued to remain a prominent actress, notably starring in Pitch Perfect and voicing Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Verse movies. She also has gained some notoriety as a musical artist, releasing a song with Shawn Mendes in 2015 and subsequently releasing multiple EPs of her own.

It’s always a noteworthy reminder of the comparative celebrity of pop culture stars when compared to athletes. Despite the NFL’s gargantuan popularity, and Allen’s undeniable superstardom as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, his fiance has more than 10 times as many followers on Instagram (20.3 million to 1.4 million).
