The San Francisco 49ers didn’t have the horses to keep up with the Detroit Lions in a thrilling 40-34 loss in the final Monday Night Football game of the season.
While the league may have scheduled the Monday night NFC championship rematch in hopes it would be for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, they instead got a game that didn’t mean much for either team. The 49ers were eliminated from the playoffs before their Week 16 game started, and the Lions have a game vs. the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18 that decided the No. 1 seed in the NFC no matter the outcome in Week 17.
It may not have had consequences for the 49ers in a postseason sense, but Monday still featured plenty of important things that will matter for San Francisco moving forward.
